Spring 2014 in Homer

Welcome to all of you,

It is spring in Homer and the weather is almost daily above 40 degrees F. now.  Ah, how wonderful it feels to have the sun higher in the sky and to feel it’s warmth.

At lot has happened this year.  We sold our huge home on Mud Bay of Kachemak Bay and have moved into a much smaller, more efficient home of 1/3 the size.  It was so hard to down size and I have to admit that I am grateful the new home has a large 2 story shed with which I have stored things I just couldn’t part with.

All of Brown Bear’s studio is now crammed into a small one car garage and we hope to build, this summer, a comfortable new studio attached to our small living home so Erik and I can once again  spread our wings of creativity in all sorts of directions during the years to come. In the mean time, we worked like crazy to get everything designed, sewn, drawn, crafted and framed for the busy 2014 summer season that is about to begin in a couple of weeks.

After three years of research, writing, editing, editing and editing, we finally have the final copy of Let Us Be Brave in the shipping stage.  We will be having a book release party soon in Homer, but the time or location has not been determined yet.  The new book hard copy and ebook will be sold both in our store on Homer Spit, in this website and around the state of Alaska.  We hope to also have it available through Amazon.com.

The Brown Bear Products, Gallery will be opening on May 9th, 2014 for the Homer Shore Bird Festival.  Our hours will be 11 am-7 pm. Other shops will also be opening early this year in May.  We are planning on being open from 11-7 Friday-Monday in May until Memorial Day.  After that,  we will be  closed on Tuesday and Wednesdays until we can find the perfect employee that will work two days a week until September.

Artist in the store this year will be Erik Behnke, Linda Kay Thompson, Deb Lowney, Don Pitcher, Chick and Barbara Deal, Dave and Caryl Christy,  Ted Heuer, Jan Peyton, Kathee Kiefer, and Joanne Thordarson. Come and check out all the new work done by each artist this winter. You will be amazed at all the talent found in our gallery. (Check out the “store” on this website to see the possibilities that will be offered.)

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Linda and Erik
